PRE-NATAL PELVIC FLOOR ASSESSMENTS
pelvic floor physiotherapy in jervis bay
We believe that every woman should have a pre and post natal pelvic floor assessment.
Muscles of the pelvic floor undergo enormous strain during a vaginal delivery (pelvic floor muscles can stretch more than 3 times beyond their normal length!). Research suggests that women whose pelvic floor tissues are less flexible or overactive could result in more pelvic floor muscle trauma during a vaginal birth.
During your appointment we will chat about any concerns you might have, along with any current or past pelvic floor symptoms. We will perform an internal examination to check to see if you have any risk factors that may cause you to have more muscle trauma during birth. Following this, we will put a plan together to manage any risk factors found during our assessment and help you best prepare your pelvic floor for birth.
You can book your first assessment from 20 weeks, after you have had the results back from your 18 week ultrasound.
